Baxter Creek

Date: 5/21/16
Distance: 12.2

Baxter Creek Trail is a 6.1 mile trail with > 4000 ft of elevation gain that starts in Big Creek and terminates at the Mount Sterling Fire Tower.  On this day, I hiked this trail in and out.

The day was pretty cloudy and it rained a bit in each direction.  The trail was in pretty good shape, but this time of year, it is just a steady uphill walk in the woods as there are no views to speak of until you reach the fire tower.

At the tower, the sun peeked out for a while, so I got a few views.  It took about 2:30 to reach the tower where I had a bit of lunch before heading back down the mountain.

The forest really felt like a rain forest today.  It was quite wet and humid with lots of green vegetation.

The entire hike took 4:30 including a 15 minute lunch break at the top.
